Yesterday my husband offered to take my daughter to school the following morning and we promptly reminded him that tomorrow she had a Christmas Concert instead of her usual trip to the Library in the AM and that her Soccer class was cancelled oh and by the way, it was Tuesday so the babysitter was coming and she didn't have school anyway.
Our son on the other hand had a birthday party that previous Friday, basketball and gymnastics class that Saturday and swimming that following Monday with a trip to see Avatar later in the week.
I realized in that moment that my children's lives have a lot more 'Swagger' than mine. I almost can't even keep track of it all as I sit on my perch in the house (while on maternity leave with our third gem) going a whole lotta nowhere. Sometimes I lament to myself about how un-sexy my own social life has become (I am a chic busy mom after all) but then I think about the well adjusted upstanding citizens my husband and I are creating and it makes it all worth it.
I will however, continue to put interstingly fake appointments in my calendar that pop up and remind me how fabulous I am (or NOT) regardless...

Girl, I can relate. One of my most fabulous single friends is planning his 35th birthday party, and told us all that he wants a knock down drag out dance party, DJ and all. I tried to participate in the conversation, making suggestions about where he could throw his party-- a nice place with a private room. But each place I suggested was met with "Are they still open?" Or "Umm.. I think they changed their name like 6 times since they were called THAT!" All proof that I just don't get around much anymore. But, had he asked me for a good place to take a 5 year old and his friends on a cold, snowy afternoon, I would've known exactly what to say!
not a mom, but great blog...
